We currently have enough staff for Summer 2022, please check back June 30th 2022 and we will have an employment application posted if we can hire more staff.  Until then please get Lifeguard Certified and become familiar with the jobs you are interested in!

Front Desk/Snack Bar Worker

  • Greet members as they arrive. 
  • Be friendly, helpful, and cheerful to pool patrons and fellow employees at all times.
  • Ask all members’ names associated with their pool number.
  • Check member’s balance and stop them from entering the pool if they owe money. Alert a manager if needed.
  • Remain at front desk at all times when on shift. Face the lobby and do not engage with others in the guard room. Do not allow friends to hang out at front desk.
  • Be responsible for admitting only authorized members/guests into the pool. Check in members on computer as they arrive.
  • Have members sign-in guests on the guest list and enter the number of guests on computer. Record in-town guests only in the database.
  • Answer phone politely and give information requested. If you don’t know, ask someone. Take messages as needed.
  • Vacuum lobby in morning and more if necessary. Alert guard in room so he/she can wait on deck for emergency.
  • Wipe down countertop daily.
  • Print sign-in sheets as needed.
  • Collect Patron Forms if missing.
  • Keep desk area clean and organized.
  • Help with duties in opening or closing the pool daily, clean bathrooms, mop front lobby, etc.
  • Hand out toys, balls, and kickboards (lap swimming only) to patrons in exchange for a shoe.
  • Maintain the lost and found shelves.
  • Perform any additional secretarial tasks when needed.
  • Perform any duty assigned by a manager/assistant manager that will better the environment of the pool.
  • Make sure to know and enforce all the pool rules.
  • Attend all staff meetings. Email managers ahead of time if missing.
  • Use computer only for intended purposes. Nothing inappropriate may be on the computer.

Lifeguard

  • Pull covers in the morning  and cover again at night for afternoon shift. Pool cannot be opened with only one guard. Two are mandatory!
  • Vacuum and scrub pool daily.
  • Assist with backwash as needed.
  • Take rotations on guard stand as assigned.
  • Follow protocol for necessary guards on duty. There must be two guards on deck at all times. 
  • Check and record chemical levels at beginning of each shift and in the evening. Levels must be checked  in the morning before anyone is allowed to swim
  • Call CPO if levels are not in specifications immediately. Do not try to correct situation alone.
  • Mentor subguards if you are a Level I, II, or III guard.
  • Teach swim lessons and assist as scheduled.
  • Wipe tables and check/clean bathrooms for cleanliness after each rotation.
  • Clean both bathrooms daily.
  • Work during off-stand times to keep up appearance of pool and grounds. There will be a to-do list kept in guard room. 15 minutes of work is required!
  • Keep the guard room and refrigerator clean and organized. No wet towels on the floor. Hang them up!
  • Label your food and drinks in the guard room and fridge.
  • Know all pool rules and enforce them in a firm but polite manner.
  • Remember to be polite, friendly, and helpful to all patrons.
  • Pay for food and drink at the snack bar. No exceptions!

Assistant Manager (Experienced Lifeguard)

  • Covers manager on duty responsibilities.
  • Assumes duties of other managers who are absent including Head Manager.
  • Helps mentor and discipline staff. Keeps track of reprimands on spreadsheet.
  • Assists other managers with any assigned tasks.
  • Schedules parties on the calendar.
  • Keeps the guard room clean and organized.
  • Helps plan 4th of July party by running the games and music.
  • Communicates with other managers regularly.
  • Takes part part in all meetings.
  • Takes attendance at staff meetings.
  • Calls missing staff. Reprimands staff for not attending meetings.
  • Takes notes at meetings and emails agenda out to the staff.
  • Helps keep board apprised of member issues.
  • Helps manager with scheduling and shift coverage (keeps track of hours — no overtime!)
  • Helps keep track of supplies.
  • Enforces all pool rules.
  • Inform CPO’s and/or Maintenance Director of any facility problems.
  • Closes pool for lightning when on duty.
  • Makes sure pool chemistry and temperature are correct.
  • Assists with backwashes. Two people are required for backwashes.
  • Helps with pump room. Maintains chlorinator and burping.
  • Helps maintain a calendar of events.
  • Helps plan staff bonding activities.
  • Checks front desk and snack bar workers out after their shifts.

Head Lifeguard (Experienced Lifeguard)

  • Be responsible for all safety matters including drills during staff meetings and red and yellow cap drills. All guards must be red capped twice during the summer.
  • Run lifeguard training meetings.
  • Help manager maintain calendar of events.
  • Keeps guard room clean and organized.
  • Mentor and monitor lifeguards. Display pride and professional attitude and expect the same from all guards. 
  • Maintains reprimands in spreadsheet with other managers.
  • Make sure pool chemistry and temperature are correct at scheduled intervals. Contact CPO if they are not within specification.
  • Work with CPO’s to see that back washes are performed on a timely basis. A minimum of two people are required for backwashes.
  • Mentor/teach staff how to check chemical levels, change acid barrels, fill chlorine hopper, do backwashes, and burp the pool.
  • Maintain Baby Pool making sure it is in proper working condition.
  • Inform manager of any maintenance problems.
  • Make sure to know and enforce all rules and supervise staff to do the same.
  • Work normal guard shifts and perform guard duties when on shift.
  • Be responsible for the overall pool operation when on duty. Never leave pool when on duty. Two guards on deck at all times.
  • Be responsible for the proper performance and behavior of staff under supervision.
  • Modify work assignments of staff as needed to provide optimum pool coverage for changing conditions, including peak loads, lunch and relief periods, illness and emergencies.
  • Wipe off tables and chairs as needed and check the bathrooms for cleanliness frequently when on duty.
  • Check the grounds surrounding the pool  (parking lot, bike rack etc.) for safety and appearance.
  • Direct staff in maintaining the pool cleanliness and appearance during their off-stand times or slow times at front desk or snack bar. See list in Handbook.
